MacLeod gauge, accession no. 55; 1940
The gauge was developed and built for Walther F. Goebel in 1940 by the Glassblower’s Shop. It measures – in inches of mercury – the degree of vacuum (negative pressure) in a contained space. It was used for micro-distillation of sugar compounds in vacuum.
