" The place in Penn where I went was a very interesting department. Hartline was doing work on vision for which he ultimately won the Nobel Prize years later. There was a guy named John Lilly who one day disappeared from the world and showed up a year later. He was talking with dolphins in the Mediterranean, learning their language. I mean academia is full of gooks and I am one of them. So, it was a very colorful, interesting place. And Hartline was the chairman of the department; it was really Hartline, not Bronk, that built that department." - Paul Greengard, Oral History
