Description

Vanderbilt School of Medicine, ca. 1980s

"When I went to Vanderbilt, there was a federal program where they thought they will make all the second tier medical schools into first tier medical schools. I was invited by Sidney Colowick, who was a professor there and was involved in picking faculty to come as guest investigators. But it was at the time that I had already decided to leave Geigy and I'd accepted a job at Yale as a professor. And so I went to Vanderbilt - I had a year in between when I could - leaving Geigy and when I could start at Yale, and so I went down there and worked." - Paul Greengard, Oral History
