Description
Allée of London planes, 1991
The campus of old and new buildings was knitted together through a landscape design by Daniel Kiley between 1956 and 1958 with funds provided by David Rockefeller, grandson of the institution's founder. Taking advantage of the existing line of London plane trees, Kiley strove to create an urban oasis that would protect and sooth its inhabitants. He added formal gardens and fountains and designed the pnatings along New York Avenue.
