By 1953, the scientific staff of the Institute had grown to 125 including guests and fellows. In addition, the administrative and supporting staffs, a mere seven persons in 1904, now totaled 410, in the laboratories, offices, hospital wards, staff residences, record rooms, kitchens, green houses, shops and powerhouse.
