Dr. Nora Volkow, Director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institute of Health, discussed her research on the science of addiction. Dr. Volkow’s work has demonstrated that drug addiction is a disease of the human brain and has also made important contributions to the neurobiology of obesity, ADHD, and aging. She is editor of several books on neuroimaging for mental and addictive disorders and has published over 600 articles.
